My Turn To Pop The Question!

With the wedding venue booked and the date set, the next job on the wedding ‘to do’ list was pop the question to my seven bridesmaids! I think most of them knew it was coming after all the wedding talk, but I still wanted it to be a surprise. With bridesmaid proposals becoming more of a ‘thing’ in the world of weddings on Pinterest and social media, I had so many ideas for what I wanted to do! I literally could have spent hundreds of pounds, but I tried not to get too carried away…

First things first, I headed over to Zazzle, a great website if you’re looking for personalised gifts, cards and more! I ordered these lovely floral cards and personalised each one. I loved the colours and design of the card and thought they complimented the overall look/theme I want for the wedding. If you’re looking for something similar, I can’t recommend this website enough! The print quality is so good, and the prices are even better! I also ordered these adorable ‘Team Bride’ stickers which added a cute finishing touch.

After looking at so many ideas, I had finally decided to put together a little box of goodies for each of my bridesmaids. I found some fab sparkly boxes in Flying Tiger in various different colours - perfect for what I wanted to do! Then filled them with a few of every girl’s favourite things: jewellery, a candle with a cheesy sentiment and a bottle of wine! Next it was all about the presentation, I spent hours trying to get the presentation on point! I made sure I had plenty of tissue paper, and played around until each one looked perfect. Finally, I tied the boxes together with some metallic ribbon and these amazing firework bows from Card Factory (literally one of my favourite shops in the world!)

Finally I had the small of task of actually asking each one to be my bridesmaid… I decided to do the asking over Christmas, and thankfully each one of them said yes (especially as I promised not to make them wear something hideous!)

I hope my bridesmaids loved their boxes as much as I loved putting them together! Here’s to 21 months of wedding talk and planning - I hope you girls are ready for it… #TEAMBRIDE 👰

Do any of you have a bridesmaid proposal stories? Whether you’re the bride or the bridesmaid, I’d love to hear all about it!

Lots of love,

L.A. xoxo

TGIF (Thank God It’s February!)

Congratulations! You’ve made it through the first (and what seems to have been the longest) month of 2018!

January always seems to start off well - you’re motivated to get back to (or start in my case) exercising and losing weight, you write a ‘to do’ list for the year and set yourself a budget to last the extra long month. Then BAM! Mid-January hits and you’re skint, tired and struggling to keep up with life in general (especially if you’ve been taken down by that dreaded illness!)

2017 was a pretty good year and I definitely feel like I accomplished a lot - from getting promoted at work, to setting a date for our wedding and everything else in between! So, with gloomy January out of the way, I’m ready to focus on the new year and what I want to achieve.

Bride(zilla) & Wedding Preparation!

Some of you have already heard about a million times (sorry!) that Jake popped the question on our New Years Eve trip to Disneyland Paris on our little balcony of the hotel room - it was literally the last thing I expected to happen! So for the last 6 months or so, I have been in full wedding mode. Unfortunately, saving for a house is delaying wedding planning slightly - it turns out that saving for both a house and a wedding is hard when you have an unhealthy shopping habit. Who knew?!

Having a slightly longer engagement, however, means I get to take more advantage of the free Prosecco, Pimms, wedding cake, macarons and so much more at wedding fairs! I’m also not the best at making big decisions quickly,  so the more venues we can visit, the better. So far I have only been to 3 or 4 wedding fairs - with a few more coming up in the Summer. Annoyingly, Jake has had to work for most of them but I love taking my mum along as well! As you can probably tell from this photo...

My favourite venue so far is definitely Kelmarsh Hall (which is just outside of Market Harborough in Northamptonshire), and is a strong contender for when we eventually come to setting the date officially. With the ornate decor in each part of the hall, the pretty pastel colours of the rooms and the picturesque gardens, it really is a beautiful place. It's definitely worth a visit anyway, even if you're just looking for something to do one afternoon!

A few things I've learnt in my first month (or so) of blogging...

My original plan was to post this last week. I must have read it about 50 times before deciding that it wasn't good enough, which actually ties in quite well of the subject of this post.

Obviously I'm not the most experienced blogger, and I do feel like a bit of an amateur writing this, but I wanted to share some thoughts from my first month of setting up The L.A. Diaries that will hopefully encourage and help new bloggers - we have to help each other out, right?!

♡    It's important to block out time in your day/week for your blog...
If, like me, you really want to pursue blogging, it's important to make sure you have enough time in your week to write a post that: 1. You feel is good enough, and 2. Will encourage people to come back for more.

Coachella Dreamin'

Since weekend one of Coachella ended a little over a week ago, I decided to cure my major case of FOMO by picking out some of my favourite looks from the weekend. I've picked out a little bit of everything, from boho to bright florals to studs and fringing - anything goes at Coachella, including Rihanna's insane crystal bodysuit!

I couldn’t decide between glam or boho, so I had to include both looks! Oh, and that Chanel rucksack is of course going on my wish list! Vanessa Hudgens is definitely one of my go-to celebrities for style inspo, mostly because she constantly nails that laid back/boho California style. Let’s face it, not many people could pull of that train driver style hat!
